Athletics - Cross Country and Track and Field

Athletics is divided into track events (including sprints, middle- and long-distance running, and relays) and cross-country running (cross-country to be open to all registered and paid athletes – free entry for all athletes).

Ottawa 2023 MIG Athletics competition will feature male and female, individual and team relay events in two age groups – junior masters (39 and under) and senior masters (40 and over) categories – field events to include long jump, high jump, and triple jump.

For specific information regarding the rules and regulations that will be followed for the Ottawa 2023 MIG, please refer to the International Association of Athletics Federation Rulebook or the Ottawa 2023 MIG Sport Technical Pack.

Basketball
University of Ottawa

The basketball competition for the Ottawa 2023 MIG will consist of both male and female teams in two age groups (junior masters – 39 and under; seniors masters -40 and over); the junior master’s division will be the competitive division. Senior Masters division athletes may compete in the ‘competitive’ division, but Junior Masters athletes may not compete in the Senior Masters division (40 and over).

Canoe/Kayak

The MIG Canoe/Kayak competition consists of male and female singles, doubles, and open mixed doubles events in the following four age categories:

  • Junior Masters (39 and under)
  • Senior Masters (40 and over)

Golf
Canadian Golf & Country Club

Golf Competition for the 2023 Masters Indigenous Games will consist of male and female competitors in two age groups (39 and under and 40 and over).

For specific information regarding the sport’s rules and regulations that will be followed for the Ottawa 2023 MIG, please refer to the Royal Canadian Golf Association (RCGA) Rulebook and the Sport Technical Package.

Volleyball
University of Ottawa

The volleyball competition for the Ottawa 2023 MIG will consist of male competitive and female competitive teams in two age groups, 39 and under and 40 and over. Volleyball will also feature an option for co-ed open teams competition (no age divisions).

3D Archery

The Masters Indigenous Games 3-D Archery competition will consist of a Male and Female Open Competition, in the following Equipment Divisions:

  • Compound
  • Traditional

The most recent version of World Archery- Field & 3D Archery Rules will apply, unless otherwise stated in this package. Competition Format: athletes will shoot two (2) rounds of twenty (20) targets per day from unmarked distances according to their age and equipment division.
