The Masters Indigenous Games is about recognizing and celebrating Indigenous Excellence, both on and off the field of play. With the 2023 Spirit Awards athletes will be recognized for the true spirit of sportsmanship and skill of the sport. This award will be awarded to an MVP for every sport and competition division; the spirit award will be a special, unique, handmade item (locally made by Indigenous Peoples), to reflect the spirit of sportsmanship and sport mastery, at the Games.

Recipients of the Spirit Awards will be announced at the closing ceremonies, scheduled to take place at 2pm at Lansdowne Park.
