Clay Melnike

Chair of the Games

Clay completed his undergraduate and master’s early in his career and focused on sport and recreation, and business planning and management.  Clay is currently working in 3 areas he is very passionate about: sport, youth development and Indigenous program development. 

 

Clay is currently the Senior Manager responsible for programs development and special projects for Indigenous Sport & Wellness Ontario.  He was the catalyst in taking the organization from 2 staff and a budget $200,000 in 2015 to 24 staff and a budget of 3 million in 2020.  Exciting Indigenous activities Clay has worked on include: 2017 National Aboriginal Physical Activity & Wellness Conference, the 2018/23/25 Masters Indigenous Games and a Comprehensive Indigenous Leadership Program for youth 12-29 called “Standing Bear”.  

 

Clay has also taught in the Sport & Recreation Department at Humber College and was certified as an Ontario Trainer with Canadian Sport for Life with a focus on older adults and youth physical literacy.

 

On a personal note, Clay loves to work out, paddle, hike and bike in the outdoors. He is very active in many sports.  He was a coach and trainer for soccer and hockey for over 15 years and now is a certified soccer referee.

Chris Charlebois

General Manager

Chris has 15 years of experience in sport event management and tourism, providing insights to NSOs and PSOs through senior leadership roles. His strategic planning, governance reviews, and revenue diversification have driven organizational success.

His consultancy work has led to effective partnerships and funding agreements worth over $100 million, sponsorships above $20 million, and fundraising efforts surpassing $5 million.

Additionally, Chris also mentors organizations toward better program and process management and plays a key role in policy development and organizational changes.

He is the Chair of the Brock Niagara Penguins and has worked on events like the IIHF World Juniors and Pan-Am Games.

Chris is also a Level 2 basketball official who enjoys outdoor activities and time with his canine companions, Harper and Sophie, in Niagara.

Brent Harrison

Director of Sponsorships

Brent Harrison is the leading sponsorship person in Canada with over 20 years of experience working with the top brands in the world.

Brent is the CEO and founder of Grindworks, Canada’s fastest-growing sports sponsorship agency with national and provincial organizations represented, specializing in Indigenous sporting organizations.

Brent is a proud family man with twin daughters who attend McMaster university in Hamilton Ontario.

Brett Farrelly

Event Manager

With over 5 years of experience in the sports industry, Brett brings experience from various multi-sporting events like the Canada Games and the Masters Indigenous Games 2023! 

Brett’s previous clients include working with the National Hockey League through Hometown Hockey, The Toronto Blue Jays with the Jays Care Foundation and TD’s Music Portfolio. 

Now living on Prince Edward Island, Brett enjoys his downtime golfing.

Emily Goodwin

Marketing & Communications

Emily has a proven track record of working alongside growing businesses to magnify their voices in crowded marketplaces. Her expertise lies in crafting compelling narratives that resonate with audiences and driving operational efficiencies within organizations.

 
Emily played a pivotal role in MIG 2023 by planning and executing a comprehensive marketing and communication strategy. Her contributions were key to the success of the group’s initiatives, reflecting her capacity to lead and collaborate effectively.

 
Emily has grown up in the world of sports, competing as a varsity track athlete for the York University Lions and now competing in road races and sprint triathlons. Offline, she enjoys spending time with her family and staying active.
