CLOSING CEREMONY
The Ottawa 2023 MIG Closing Ceremony will take place on Sunday, August 27 from 2-6pm at Lansdowne Park following the Friendship Walk/Run.
Athletes will be celebrated with the presentation of the MVP and Spirit Awards, followed by a Pow-wow to wrap up a week of tremendous accomplishment, and Indigenous unity.
Dancer Registration opens at 1:00pm
Grand Entry takes place at 3:00pm
Emcee: Nimki Wemigwans, Manitoulin Island
Knowledge Keeper: Greg Meekis, Sandy Lake First Nation
Head Veteran: Wendy Jocko, Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation
Host Drum: Spirit Wolf Singers, Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation
There is no monetary fee required to register as a dancer, however, registered dancers will be asked to bring a gift to participate in a gift exchange at the end of the celebrations.
The closing ceremony and pow wow is open to the public and does not require tickets for entry.
OPENING GALA
The 2023 Masters Indigenous Games Opening Gala will serve as the opening ceremonies for the Games and will offer athletes the chance to meet fellow competitors and enjoy an evening of celebration and culture.
Hour d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served as guests take in the performances and are welcomed to the Games and Canada’s Capital by Ottawa 2023 MIG partners and organizers.
The 2023 Masters Indigenous Games Opening Gala will be held August 24, 2023 at 7:30pm in the stunning Grand Hall of the Canadian Museum of History and will feature musical and cultural performances and tributes, highlighting Indigenous cultures from around the world, with a special emphasis on the rich heritage and diversity of Ontario’s Indigenous Peoples.
Tickets for the Opening Gala are $25 per person, and the event will have a formal attire dress code. Doors open at 6:45pm. Space is extremely limited and tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
